FIG TREE FOUNDATION - This is an organization in Canada that coordinates other organizations via a virtual roundtable format. Participants share successes, failures and lessons learned, helping each other to succeed. The FTF also assists donors, guiding them through the complicated world of NGOs and international organizations seeking their support. The Foundation is run by a group of very dedicated volunteers who share the objective of making the world a better place. Here is a link to the FTF (CLICK HERE).
AFRICA BOOK PROJECT - Historically, their primary activity was to collect books and educational materials in Canada and distribute them to needy schools in Africa. To date, they have sent over 100,000 books. By collecting used books in Canada, they are not only assisting the children in Kenya, but also diverting thousands of books from landfills. Recently, ABP is working with CIP to try community libraries as a more practical and affordable means of sustainable development.
