FINANCIAL INFORMATION

CIP (UNITED STATES) AND CIP (SIERRA LEONE)

CIP in Sierra Leone is a registered Non-Governmental Organization in Sierra Leone. It is run by Director Manfred Musa, with an office in Freetown and small offices upcounry. CIP in Sierra Leone has been in existance for about 10 years. CIP Sierra Leone maintains a bank account in Sierra Leone, and is required to file financial reports with the government on an annual basis. They employ an accountant to keep the books in country. Anyone can donate to CIP Sierra Leone directly.

CIP in the United States is a non-profit organization which raises funds and supports the work of CIP in Sierra Leone. It is organized by Dan Lavin and a Board of Directors, incorporated in the State of Washington as of October 2008. Once funds are transferred from CIP US to CIP SL, those funds become the property and responsibility of CIP SL. Dan Lavin travels to Sierra Leone twice each year to work with the team in SL to coordinate efforts between the two organizations. Financial records are maintained, and will be reported to the IRS annually (starting at the end of 2008) on Form 990 which are public documents available at http://www.guidestar.org/

Administrative Costs: to date Dan Lavin has donated all funds necessary to pay for CIP US administrative costs (licenses, application fees). No donor funds are used for anything but program costs unless the donor specifies the funds are to be used for administrative costs.

Travel Costs: to date, all travel costs have either been paid directly by Dan Lavin, or have been covered by the donation of airline miles from a donor. Please contact Dan if you have "airline miles to spare!"
